Quick Details
Desmond was diagnosed 12/29/06 at 20 months of age. His mom noticed seizures at 2 weeks of age but for one reason or another doctors shrugged it off as being something else. He currently take depakote sprinkles 125 mg 1 am and 2 pm. He has epileptic episodes of many types every year since birth from december to february despite medications being upped, sleep, routine and/or diet.

Medications
He started out on one 125 mg capsule in the morning and at night. 12 hours a part. This was to be sprinkled into his food. Shortly after, leaving the hospital we learned putting it in the food was not the best decision because their suggestions of ice cream, apple sauce and other things soft are not always whats best for breakfast and they may not eat it all.
So we started just pouring it in his mouth and pouring water in afterwards so the medicine did not get backwashed back into the cup.
This is doing good! He is now up to 1 capsule in the morning and 2 at night. Still 12 hours apart.
His medications have had to be altered every year sometime between december and february.
Occourances
*The day he was diagnosed he went into a grandmaul seizure in his high chair. Then his seizures occured every 4 hours for 3 1/2 days. The longest was 3.5 minutes.
*This last year, on Jan. 6th. He was unable to hold him self up. Had no muscle control in his legs for 15 minutes. Did not have convulsions but complained of his legs hurting and when we got him to school he could not stand. He ran to the car and the drive to his school is about 4 minutes. He tried to get out of his car seat and fell to the floor board. His vitals were fine but pupils were not responding properly.
*Contrary to popular belief he, so far, has been conscious during ALL his seizures and majority of the time will hold a mini conversation as way of talking/coaching him out of his seizure.
